Trump's Health Update: Common Vein Condition Explained

Health Condition Update from the White House

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided an update on President Donald Trump's health, revealing that he has been diagnosed with a common vein condition typically seen in individuals over 70. During her weekly press briefing, Leavitt addressed inquiries regarding the bruising on the President's hand and swelling in his legs. She stated, “To maintain transparency, the President requested that I share a note from his physician.”

Leavitt explained that President Trump had experienced mild swelling in his lower legs in recent weeks. Following standard medical protocols and out of an abundance of caution, the White House medical team conducted a thorough evaluation. “The President underwent extensive examinations, including diagnostic vascular studies,” she noted. “Bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds were performed, revealing chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults.”

She reassured the public that there were no indications of serious cardiac issues or systemic diseases following a series of laboratory tests. “Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. The laboratory tests included a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, coagulation profile, D-dimer, BT type natriuretic peptide, and cardiac biomarkers,” Leavitt added. “All results were within normal limits. An echocardiogram confirmed normal cardiac structure and function, with no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness.”

Leavitt also mentioned that the minor bruising on Trump's hand is a result of soft tissue irritation from frequent handshakes and is a known side effect of aspirin intake. “Recent images of the President have shown minor bruising on the back of his hand, consistent with this irritation and the use of aspirin as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen. This is a benign side effect of aspirin therapy. The President continues to be in excellent health, which is evident to all of you daily,” she concluded.
